Gender and Gender Diversity in Early Childhood Education

Gender and Gender Diversity in Early Childhood Education is jointly presented by Early Learning Hive and the Canadian Child Care Federation.

This asynchronous professional development course is geared for working professionals in early childhood education, and for parents and caregivers who are curious about supporting gender and gender diversity with young children.

In this course, learners are encouraged to take one, 45-minute module per week for eight weeks, for a total of seven hours of professional development. In the French version of the course, learners are encouraged to take one, 75-minute module per week for six weeks, for a total of seven hours of professional development.

Each module opens with a direct connection to the BC Early Years Framework and often the Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Framework, with connections to each provincial and territorial Early Years Framework provided in a supplementary document so that learners from across Canada can link course content to the standards and expectations of their respective jurisdictions.

Modules contain an average of 8 workbook prompts (short answer reflections that users type into the course workbook, with 69 prompts in total) which keep learners active and engaged as they move through the course. A total of 17 picture book read-alouds, 7 professional articles, and 8 case studies anchor the content in applicable, professional practice.

A certificate of completion is auto generated at the end of module 8.
